Postnatal Support

Moving into the 4th trimester (the first 12 weeks after baby is born) is a big transition for your body, your baby, and your whole family. Having the right support during this stage can make a huge difference to your experience and create positive memories for years to come. My role changes with each and every family, tailoring my services to assist however the family need me to.

By supporting mum through the healing process after the birth, this can have a positive effect on bonding, breastfeeding and adjusting to your new life with baby.

Examples of what my role can include:

  • Signposting to helpful information and services i,e, postpartum healing, feeding issues, baby sleep, osteo treatments, tongue tie info and practitioners, local baby groups etc

  • Infant care - giving mum some time for self care (a shower and a nap can easily be bypassed, but can make a huge difference to surviving the long nights, and days)

  • Light housework - putting on a wash, folding laundry, running the hoover around, clearing the sink of dirty dishes, the everyday jobs that can sometimes feel difficult to stay on top of with a newborn

  • Running errands - anything from picking up some groceries/supplies to returning those library books that you’ve been meaning to for the past month

  • Helping you gain your confidence with getting out and about with baby

  • Preparing meals to ensure the family are well fed

  • And above all, an ear to listen - whether you would like to debrief your birth experience, or you just appreciate a friendly face, cup of tea, and a chat. This can be so simple, yet so beneficial to many new parents when they are navigating a whole new world

I offer 3 or 4 hour sessions, Monday to Friday. I can start working with you as soon as baby is born, or after the first few weeks (often partners have to go back to work after parental leave, which is when the additional support is appreciated).

The cost for postnatal support is £22 per hour plus mileage.
